Our History:
Charles and Helen Fricke served as missionaries for about 10 years in Malawi, Africa. After returning to the United States the Holy Spirit inspired their hearts to continue their ministry by publishing and printing the Gospel in African languages and send it to help the missionaries serving there. On December 21, 1953, they began their venture of faith.
After 20 years the Frickes needed someone else to come along continue the printing ministry. Charlie and Liz Travis were friends of theirs and became actively involved running the ministry from the basement of their home. Anchor Evangelical Press was then incorporated in 1974. Since then millions of tracts have been sent from Hyde Park to Africa. Thousands of people have come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as a direct result of this ministry.
Charlie later decided to expand his home to better suit the printing ministry. Sadly, in 1995 Charlie Travis unexpectedly died leaving an unfinished building and AEP the loss of its prominent leader. The Board of Directors prayed for guidance and direction for the future. Liz decided to take a trip to Africa to see firsthand the need for the printed Word. This increased the resolve to complete the building so that the work being done in Hyde Park would continue.
In 2009, Liz married Alan Clarkson. He joined our Board of Directors and they have worked to bring AEP into its next season. God continues to bring new volunteers with hearts for spreading God's Word.
In 2017 we reconnected with Jonathan and Charles, the sons of the founders Charles and Helen Fricke. Charles sent us the below video to encouraged us and the impact we are having. Watch the video below of Charles Fricke's accounts of his parent's ministry and his trip to Malawi in 2005. While there Charles saw some of our tracts that were printed 30 years ago. Recently, we received a letter requesting a tract that we printed more than 40 years ago! This is proof that our tracts are not thrown away but, used over and over and over again!
